Seven Months!

Grayson is seven months old!
I know I say this every month, but these last seven months have flown by! Grayson is now wearing 9 months and 6-12 months clothes. He does have a pair of pajamas that are 12 months and he can wear those too! I had to move him to the 12 months pair because he loves to bust the snaps open in some of his 9 months pajamas and when he wakes up in the middle of the night his foot will be twisted or both feet will be in one leg or both feet will be out of his pajamas all together!
This is Grayson's newest "face." He has been blowing lots of raspberries lately while making this silly face!
Last week I took Grayson to the pediatrician for a check-up. He now weighs 17 pounds 11 ounces! His doctor told me to keep trying with the cereal and baby food and lately he has been doing a little bit better. He actually enjoyed cereal a few days ago! I was so surprised I almost fell out of my chair!
Our biggest news of this month is that Grayson is getting two teeth! We even think there is a third coming soon...oh boy! Well this explains the drooling and crankiness...bless his heart! His next month post will have a toothy grin, I can't wait!
Here is Claire and Grayson at 7 months. This picture of Claire was taken the day she started crawling...I don't foresee Grayson doing that soon, but I am glad. It gets crazy when they are mobile, ha!

They still look so different! We sure do love 'em though! :)

Six Months!

Grayson is six months old! I can't believe he will be a year old in six more months!
Lately, Grayson has been spending a lot of time in his exersaucer. He loves it and it has been nice to have my hands free to get some stuff done...yay for vacuuming the floors!
I haven't taken Grayson for his 6 month checkup yet. His 5 month was late since we were gone back to TN, so his next appointment isn't until February. But, I can definitely tell that he is growing! He just seems so long to me all of a sudden. I need to adjust his exersaucer again and this will be the second time since coming back from TN!

Grayson is wearing 6-9 month clothes...although the past two days I have put him in 6-12 month onesies and they aren't that big on him! He is in a size 3 diaper.

I was so excited to try baby food with Grayson. I found a great website with baby food recipes, so I have been making it myself. So far he has had sweet potatoes, rice cereal, pears, and applesauce. He hasn't liked any of it! I have finally gotten him to open his mouth for the first bite, but after that he seals his lips up and won't open it again. The faces he makes are hilarious, but I hope he will eventually eat something! He seems to be content to nurse forever...yikes!
Recently, Grayson learned how to stick out his tongue. Charlie got him to laugh so hard just by sticking his tongue out at him and it wasn't long before Grayson had to try that funny trick too!
We are still waiting on an official "roll over" but he did come really close a few days ago. Honestly, he hasn't been on the floor nearly as much as Claire was. He does enjoy his activity mat, but sometimes he will just look at his toys and watch Claire run all around. He is so laid back!

About 5 nights ago I was really tired of not getting any sleep at night. Charlie and I were holding Grayson every night on the couch after putting Claire to bed and I was ready to put an end to that and get him to sleep in his crib! So we tried letting him cry it out after putting him to bed. It took about 3 nights for him to fall asleep more quickly, but he now falls asleep by himself without his pacifier and only wakes up at 1 and 5 for feedings. What a change! Charlie and I have so enjoyed some time alone and the extra sleep has been so nice!
Grayson and Claire have been interacting more with each other lately. I just love watching them play together. I know it won't be long until they are both running around the house together. Our little "Canadian" has been such a blessing!

5 months, a new schedule..a new year!

Grayson is now 5 months old! (This post is really late...he will be 6 months in a couple of weeks!)
He turned 5 months while we were still visiting family in Tennessee. We celebrated with a photo shoot by Auntie Cynthia (my SIL). She is a super awesome photographer and a great person to have around to capture our adventures while we are together.

Now that we are home, I have now moved Grayson to a four hour schedule. I remember when I did that with Claire life seemed to much easier! The same is true for Grayson. Now, if I could just get him to sleep through the night!!!!
Grayson is now wearing 9 months and 6-9 months clothes and a size 3 diaper. I just took him this week to get his immunizations and they weighed and measured him then. He weighed 16.8 lbs and measured 26 3/4 inches.
The last two days he has eaten rice cereal. The first time I gave it to him, he loved it! Then last night, he spit it out. Who knows what he will think today?!
Charlie and I still marvel at how different our kids are. We are enjoying Grayson's laid back personality and love watching him change and grow into a happy little man!

Four Months!

Grayson is four months old! I really can't believe it! We have been so busy with all of his appointments that the last month has really flown by!
He is doing really well and looks so different now that he has had his surgery. The arm splint wearing will be officially over on Thursday. I am not sure whether we should burn those things or save them for him to see when he is older! Ha!

Grayson is now wearing six months clothes. He weighs just over 15 pounds. He is still in a size 2 diaper, but we are considering trying out a size 3 while we are home for Christmas.

He is eating every 3 hours and takes two good naps a day. He gets up about 1-2 times a night...and one of those times is usually early the next morning. So, he is doing pretty good! He has developed a few bad habits because of his surgery. Mainly, he uses me like the pacifier he can't have! We are hoping that having his hands and his pacifier back will help with the soothing trouble.
We are so proud of our boy! He has tolerated everything like a trooper!

We are so excited to be taking Grayson for his first visit to the US in a couple of weeks. We have so many family members who haven't met him yet, and they are so excited! And we are looking forward to being back in good ole Tennessee. There truly is no place like home for the holidays!

Three Months!

Grayson is three months old!
I know I say this every month...but time sure is flying by! Grayson now weighs 14.6 pounds! At our pre-op appointment on Friday the nurse called him a "linebacker" and I have to agree. No wonder my back hurts sometimes after carting him around!
Grayson is now wearing 3-6 months shirts and 3 months pants. Today he is wearing his first 6 month outfit and it still has lots of room (I love when they are a little big! It seems so snuggly!) He is in a size 2 diaper.

At our pre-op appointment we decided that we would take away Grayson's pacifier now so that after his surgery when he can't have it he won't be so upset. It has been hard, but he seems to be doing better each day. Last night I fed him at 7:30 and stuck him in bed. He ate again at 8:30 and never woke up! This was the first time he went to bed this early and stayed asleep, hooray!
Hopefully, Grayson will be happy after his surgery. The nurse told me to keep him from crying. Yes, keep a BABY from CRYING!! In other words, Grayson and I will be joined at the hip for the next few weeks. Charlie thinks I will be feeding him a lot to keep him happy, but I think we will be doing a lot of rocking in the rocking chair and he will be napping on me on the couch.
I asked a ton of questions at his appointment and feel okay about his surgery. It will take 2 hours to repair his lip and then about 45 minutes in the recovery room. They will alternate advil and tylenol for the pain and he will be able to eat right away! The scariest things I heard were to keep him from crying and that he can not take his splints off at all for the whole three weeks (even in the bath tub!). Other than that, the nurse said to take tons of pictures of him now because he will look completely different after the surgery. She also told us how wonderful the surgeon is, which really made me feel so glad he is getting his surgery done here! I also asked about the costs of this procedure and she said we would be paying nothing! Can I repeat that? Nothing! Wow, what a relief. Thank you Alberta Health Care!
Claire and Grayson at 3 months...I see more resemblances now!
Tomorrow is my first day keeping a little girl. I am going to keep her one day a week for four hours. I am hoping that Claire enjoys playing with her (she is almost two). I think it will be good for her to have a buddy for a few hours. Grayson is keeping pretty well to his schedule, so it seems manageable! Fingers crossed! :)

Two Months

Grayson is two months old, can you believe it?

He is growing like a weed....and eating a lot too! :)

Grayson now weighs 12 pounds 4 ounces. He is 24 inches long. He is exactly one pound heavier and one inch longer than Claire was at two months.

We are starting to stay pretty much on schedule. His morning nap is still a little random, but he takes a good afternoon nap at 1pm every day. Grayson is now going to bed between 9 and 10 and waking up once at night, usually around 3:30am. He then wakes up at 6:30am and (thankfully!) goes back to sleep until 8:30am.

He just started cooing and smiling at me a lot..which I love! He is pretty laid back and really doesn't require much to be happy!

Grayson is now wearing 3 months outfits and a size 1 diaper, but the next time we get diapers we have to get a size 2...they are getting a bit small!

We are enjoying out sweet boy!

Also, Grayson's surgery has been scheduled for November 3rd. We have quite a few appointments coming up to check his hearing and meet the doctor again and anethesiologist. He also has to be fitted for his arm splints he will wear for 3 weeks after his surgery. We are nervous about having him "put under" and have to be tormented with surgery, but hopeful that this will repair his lip and make him look more "normal." (We still think he is handsome, though!)

One Month

Grayson is one month old!
What a fast month is has been! I still can't believe that it has been a month since I got a full night of sleep, ha!

Grayson is doing really well. He weighs around 8 1/2 pounds. He has been eating every two hours, but in the last couple of days he has started going 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Thank goodness!

He is so much more content than Claire was. He doesn't cry very often, mainly just grunts. He even grunts in his sleep!

Lately, he has become more alert and will spend a few minutes looking around. I can't wait until he starts smiling back at me!

Claire loves her brother. She asks first thing every morning where he is and wants to go get him. We have been letting her lay with him in her bed while we say prayers every night. She thinks that is the best! She will hug and kiss him over and over.
We are so enjoying our baby boy!
