Going, going Gone!

The weekend came and went. I can officially say that I am homeless. Charlie has left with his dad and he drove to Iowa City last night and is hoping to make it to North Dakota by tonight. They drove over 500 miles yesterday! While they are hitting the road hard on the way to Canada, I am hanging out with my sister-in-law and neice and nephew. We are hitting the pool and having photo shoots! I definitely have it made here...which is why I am so enjoying the warm weather...maybe I'll be the only gal in Canada with a tan!
Here are some last pictures of the moving van and house before we left. It is a miracle I held it together to take these shots. So many memories happy there...

On the MOVE

Well, before I knew it the packing was over. We had our wonderful friends come and help us early Saturday morning. It was rainy, but they came and put all of the furniture on the truck. I ran around and logged all of the boxes into a notebook. For those who are wondering, you have to have a list of everything you bring into Canada and the cost of each item...doesn't that sound like an easy job?!

Packing, packing, more packing...

There are now boxes everywhere! My in-laws came over the weekend and helped SO much. We packed the kitchen and I cleared out my closet. There is still a lot to be done, though.

Anyway, so here's the plan...

In-laws come back again tomorrow. Then we get the truck Thursday and will have it packed by Sunday. Charlie will then leave for Canada with his dad and find us a place to live. My mother-in-law and I arew going home to spend time with family for two weeks and then we will fly up to Canada after the 4th of July.

This has all happened so fast!

An Edmonton Comparison

For those of you who are interested, let's take a minute and compare Edmonton to Kentucky.

Edmonton:
Average temperature for June: 70-72 degrees
Length of Day: 17 hours
Population: 1 million
Fun fact: Has the world's largest shopping mall...hmm I like that!

Kentucky:
Average temperature for June: 84-85 degrees
Length of Day: 15 hours
Population: 260,000
Fun fact: Horse capital of the world! I will miss the horse farms..

How do you think Edmonton is stacking up?

Little Bit of Packing Going On!

So, I know you are going to be so proud...

I have packed FOUR boxes!

And you will never guess what is in them...

1)CD's (can't live without music in the frozen tundra, haha!)
2) Movies
3) CD Player!
4)More Movies...

Do most people pack the least important things first?!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, and it seems to me that writing all of my thoughts and experiences down will help document the adventure my family is about to partake. So...before I get too far into my story, here's the basic info on us:

We currently live in Kentucky, and have done so for the past six years. We have one child, Claire who just turned seventeen months old, and a miniature schnauzer, Gus.

I was happily teaching Kindergarten when my husband, Charlie finished his PhD in microbiology and decided we needed to move to Canada! Edmonton, Alberta to be specific.

The moving truck is coming in 11 days, and so far I have packed zero boxes! Does moving five of them from the garage into the house count for anything?

Stay tuned as we...

1)Actually pack something!
2) Leave the United States behind
3) Look for a house
4) Try to find me a job
5) Adjust to a new county

It will definitely be interesting...
